Vaihi releases new studio recording - Harmony
(Pacific Hawaiian Music Press Release)
Nov 18, 2005

Definition of harmony - A combination of sounds considered pleasing to the ear.

But with Vaihi, Harmony is a blending of life - the ability to experience peace - whether it is with or without, our family and our peers.

"Wa'a" was written for the canoe, Iosepa, which was constructed by family and friends in Laie.   It was our gift to Laie and Iosepa.

"Never Letting You Go," was written by Zynfia, the niece of Aaron Kaonohi, one of the band members of Vaihi. Zynfia wrote this song a few years back for her boyfriend, who was rescued at Waimea Bay by a Marine. And while the Marine was pulling him out of the water, all his belongings were stolen.   The incident made the news.

This album is their representation of Harmony - sharing their experience of peace.

This album is a mixture of contemporary and pop.

Vaihi hopes that Harmony can be achieved to all who come within earshot.

Let the music begin.

The Hawaii Music Award for best Polynesian Album was announced recently this past February. As a self-proclaimed "Peoples Choice", it was an honor to be nominated by the people of Hawaii. No matter what the radio plays, the people have spoken.

Vaihi and the rest of the winners will be honored at a dinner and ceremony Sunday, April 3rd, 2005, at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki. For tickets and information, go to the Hawaii Music Awards website.

Vaihitian "A savvy way to visit Tahiti without boarding an airplane".
Jun 20, 2004

The reviews are in and the verdict is here. Vaihitian is "an easy-to-appreciate entry, even if you don't understand the language; the rousing joy and appreciation of Tahiti are very apparent," says Honolulu Advertiser columnist, Wayne Harada.

Honolulu Star Bulletin Music Reviewer John Berger says "local residents who know Tahitian music only from visits to local Polynesian revues may be surprised to find the overall mood is soft and mellow -- think nahenahe (sweet, melodious) but sung in Tahitian."
